Blinkit Launches Bharat Yatra National Common Mobility Card Across Major Cities

Quick commerce platform Blinkit on Tuesday announced the launch of the Bharat Yatra National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) on its app, expanding access to a unified public transport payment solution across India’s major urban centres.

The platform has begun deliveries of the card in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad, marking a push into mobility enablement beyond groceries and essentials.

Zero-KYC, Pan-India Mobility Access

Priced at Rs 50, the Bharat Yatra card does not require a Know Your Customer (KYC) process and removes the need for city-specific transport cards, according to Albinder Dhindsa, who is set to assume charge as Group CEO of Eternal.

“Today, we’re launching the NCMC Bharat Yatra card on Blinkit. It is a Rs 50, zero-KYC, RuPay-powered card by Pine Labs, which supports instant UPI top-ups and eliminates the need for city-specific transport cards,” Dhindsa said in a social media post.

The card can be linked and activated through the Bharat Yatra mobile application, carries a five-year validity, and has a wallet limit of Rs 2,000.

Current Coverage

In its present form, the Bharat Yatra card can be used for metro services in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Ahmedabad, and for bus services in Mumbai and Chennai. Wider coverage is expected as more transport authorities integrate with the NCMC framework.

Blinkit as a Distribution Enabler

Blinkit’s role in the initiative is primarily as a distribution partner, enabling faster and easier access to the mobility card. Industry observers note that by reducing friction in obtaining transport cards, the platform is helping improve adoption of public transport in urban India.

The Bharat Yatra card is also available through Flipkart, reflecting growing interest among consumer platforms in supporting digital public infrastructure.

With this move, Blinkit adds urban mobility enablement to its expanding portfolio, highlighting how quick commerce platforms are increasingly being used to distribute everyday civic and financial tools at scale.
