Google Brings AI-Powered Message Summaries and VIP Alerts to Pixel Devices

Google is rolling out a fresh wave of AI-driven features to its Pixel devices, introducing message summaries, smarter notifications, and improved contact prioritization all powered by on-device artificial intelligence.

The update brings iPhone-like AI message recaps, allowing Pixel users to quickly catch up on long group chats or busy conversation threads directly from the notification panel. The feature works across multiple messaging apps, offering a quick, scroll-free overview of missed messages.

Google is also launching a new ‘VIPs’ feature for Google Messages and WhatsApp, enabling users to mark preferred contacts whose notifications will be elevated to the phone’s status bar. This ensures important alerts stand out even when the device is busy.

Another addition is the ‘crisis badge’ inside the Contacts widget, designed to help users keep track of priority contacts in urgent or critical situations.

The enhancements reflect Google’s growing push toward practical, device-level AI functions that simplify communication and improve real-time awareness similar to Apple’s recent advancements through Apple Intelligence.
